Why we started
kidproducts began with a simple belief: no parent should feel like they’re going through this journey alone. Parenting is full of questions, joys, and challenges, and while no two experiences are the same, having a place to turn for guidance and community makes a world of difference.
The story behind The Start of You
Our first resource, The Start of You, was born from this vision. We realised that while the digital world offers endless information, many parents were missing a tangible, personal way to reflect, remember, and capture their journey.
The journal became our first step in helping families pause, connect, and hold onto the memories of pregnancy. But more importantly, it set the tone for everything we do at kidproducts: creating meaningful resources that support parents today and give lasting value for tomorrow.
Meet Sophie – Co-Founder of kidproducts
Meet Sophie
Sophie Wakelin is more than a founder of kidproducts. She’s a mother, a professional, and a voice of encouragement for families.
Her journey, like so many parents, has been filled with both joy and challenge. As a mum, she understands firsthand the highs and lows that come with raising children — from everyday milestones to moments of deep uncertainty, including when one of her sons faced a life-threatening accident. These experiences inspired her to write Motherhood Uncovered, a book dedicated to helping mums feel seen, supported, and reassured with honest insights and practical tips.
Beyond her role as an author, Sophie has built a career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, working closely with children and families every day. This work has deepened her understanding of how children grow, communicate, and connect with the world around them. It has also shaped her belief that parents need accessible support and encouragement from the very beginning of their journey.
Sophie’s story reflects what we stand for: knowledge, care, resilience, and community. As co-founder, she brings not only expertise but also empathy, ensuring that kidproducts is a place where parents feel supported, understood, and never alone.
